Getting to Sheffield

By rail

Sheffield is well served by rail. The city is easily reached by rail from London St Pancras (2½ hours), Newcastle (2 hours), Manchester (1½ hours) and Birmingham (1½ hours).

The principal train services on the north-east/south-west rail route pass through Sheffield. For railway enquiries, please visit National Rail.

By road

Sheffield is linked to the M1 motorway, junctions 33 and 34. You are reccommended to leave the motorway at junction 33 and follow signs for the city centre via the Parkway.

The M1 motorway (junction 33) gives direct access to the city from north and south. Access from the west is via the A57 and from the east via the M18/M1.

The nearest international airports are Manchester, Nottingham East Midlands and Robin Hood Doncaster/Sheffield.

By bus

Sheffield's national coach service for long distance travel is comprehensive and efficient. Its central pick up and terminal point is at the Transport Interchange, which is situated next to Sheffield Hallam University.
