Student Activities

Students in the BSG

The British Society of Gerontology has an active student group, the Network of Gerontology Students (NOGS). The goals of NOGS are:

  1. To offer a vibrant forum for the exchange of new research and intellectual ideas amongst students of Gerontology
  2. To provide a network for British Society of Gerontology students to meet, debate and support each other in their educational and social endeavours
  3. To provide future talent for the continued management and growth of the British Society of Gerontology.

Symposia

The BSG and NOGS are keen to promote student participation and development within gerontology. For BSG 2007 students are encouraged to submit joint applications with colleagues and supervisors for symposia that fit with this year’s conference themes. For those submitting abstracts for poster presentations there is a prize for the best student poster. Please see separate section on the student poster prize.

Student Events

The group meets each year at the BSG annual conference. At BSG 2007 there will be a welcome area for students and new members at the opening lunch. The Network of Gerontology Students’ 2007 Conference Meeting is planned to take place at lunch time on Friday 7 September. All are welcome, please come and find out more about NOGS and how you can get involved. Both events will provide excellent opportunities for students with an interest in ageing research to meet and exchange ideas with fellow students and colleagues from other universities and institutions.

For further information on NOGS and students at BSG Sheffield please contact Karen Baker and Kelly Fitzgerald at nogs2007@hotmail.co.uk
